striped-soxwebHave you ever wondered how to make multi-colored striped socks like these? Maybe you look at a picture like this one and think, “Oh, I could never do this, there are too many color changes!” Well, guess what, these socks are knit using only 2 different yarns!!!

That’s right, using one solid and one self-striping sock yarn, you can achieve this beautiful result. The only limitation is your imagination! These were created using Cascade Heritage sock yarn and Wisdom Yarns Poems – a deep striping sock yarn in vibrant colors that creates a gentle drift of color.

The pattern we will use in this Knit-Along is for a basic dress sock and is free from S&B Distribution. Download it here.

The Knit-Along for this project begins on November 2 and goes through November 16. We meet each Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.

Skills you will learn:

  • Color changes in the round
  • Heel and toe shaping (increasing and decreasing)
  • Picking up stitches

Supplies you will need:

  • One skein each of a solid and a self-striping sock yarn
  • US 1 – 3 double pointed or 40″ circular (for “magic loop”) or (2) 24″ circular needles (depending on how you like to knit socks – we can help you learn each style)
  • Stitche markers
  • Tapestry needle
  • Free Pattern
