The knitted doll is a Topsy-Turvy Doll, a pattern by Bernat Design Studio (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/topsy-turvy-doll ) an adorable flip doll about 10” high.  You can embellish each doll so they each have their own personality.  

The crochet doll is equally adorable, it’s the BINA doll by lalylala (Lydia Tresselt).  It is a doll in a bear suit, and is one of a series of dolls with different themes by Ms. Tresselt.  The pattern can also be found on http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lalylala-bina-the-bear.  

This KAL will begin on August 3rd, through August 17th, Wednesdays, from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm. 

The knitted doll will enable you to learn:

  • Color changes
  • Shaping (increase / decrease)
  • Assembly & finishing techniques
  • Tiny lace patterns
  • Proper stuffing techinques
  • Minor amount of embrodiery on knitted fabric

The crochet doll will enable you to learn:

  • Crochet in continuous rounds
  • Shaping (increase / decrease)
  • Assembly & finishing techniques
  • Use of safety eyes
  • Learn basic knitting for the scarf
  • Proper stuffing techniques

Supplies for the knitted dolls:

  • DK Yarn in up to 7 colors – approximately 100 yards each of main colors. You can use leftovers of yarn previoulsy purchased from us for smaller amounts
  • US 5 dpns, or US 5 – 32” circular for magic loop, or two US 5 circulars
  • Stitch markers
  • Darning needle

Supplies for the crochet doll:

  • Crochet hook, size consistent with yarn size, US 0 up to US F
  • Stitch markers
  • 6 mm safety eyes, or embrodiery thread if the doll is for a baby
  • US 2.5 or US 3 knitting needles for scarf
  • Apx. 30 yds yarn for scarf

Remember, participation in our knit and crochet alongs is free when you purchase your materials at Yarn & Thread Expressions. Otherwise, the cost is $15 per session. Please plan to work only on the current or past KAL/CAL project.
