Finished RaccoonsThe summer is flying by but the hot weather has not slowed down all the avid knitters and crocheters in East County! Last month’s Knit-Along (KAL) was a huge success. Over the course of several weeks we created this ‘gaze’ of darling raccoon super-heroes. Our next KAL began this week, Wednesday, August 6! Just in time for autumn we will create a variety of felted totes. Felting is a great way to turn your knitted piece into a sturdy fabric, perfect for hauling everything from groceries to your knitting and crocheting projects! It’s not too late to join us. You can come by any time and pick up your materials or just arrive a little early on Wednesday. You have the choice of creating one of these four bags. The pattern for each is free on Ravelry. If you don’t already have your free Ravelry account, be sure to register. Ravelry is a great source for crafting information, patterns and so much more.

Knit-Alongs are always free when you purchase your project yarn at Yarn & Thread Expressions. Whichever bag you select, we will have a lovely variety of yarn to choose from. Be sure to download the pattern before you come so you can bring along the correct needles for your project. I suggest you bring the size recommended for the pattern, plus a size larger and a size smaller, just in case. You will also need stitch markers and a tapestry needle. If you select the cabled bag, you will need a cable needle. Don’t worry, if you don’t have some of these supplies, you can pick them up when you purchase your yarn. We will end the class with a “field trip” to a local laundromat, where we will learn to felt our finished product.
