Our next Knit-Along begins February 18th. We will be creating colorful Fair Isle hats every Wednesday evening for 3 weeks from 5 – 7 pm, with the final meeting on Wednesday, March 4th. In just three short weeks you will have a beautiful hat that you can wear yourself or send to a snow-bound friend or family member. There are four patterns to choose from:
- DIY Fair Isle Hat (free)
- Three Tams (free)
- Selbu Modern Hat (free)
- Heartie Fair Isle Hat ($5)
All of the patterns are available on Ravelry. Yarn weights vary by pattern from fingering to worsted. We have a lovely selection of each.
Skills you will use:
- Color-work knitting in the round
- Understanding of the fair isle technique
- Chart Reading
If you don’t know some of these skills, this is a perfect opportunity to learn! Others in the group will be learning right along with you. Materials you will need:
- Double pointed needles (DPNs) and circular needles appropriate to the yarn you select
- Yarn bobbins
- Stitch markers
- Row counter (or paper and pencil if you’re kickin’ it old-school)
- Tapestry needle
Participation in the Knit-Along is always free when you purchase your yarn at Yarn & Thread Expressions. We had a full house for the last KAL, so be sure to register secure your spot!
