Happy New Year! Now that you’ve made it through the busy holiday season, I hope you’re ready to work on some new projects and learn some new techniques. We have just the thing to get 2015 started off right!
Join the Knit-Along
Our next Knit-Along begins January 21. We will be creating gorgeous, lacy throws every Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 pm. with the final meeting on February 11th. Just in time for Valentine’s Day! The Hemlock Ring Throw pattern is free. It is adapted for today’s crafter from a 1942 pattern book issued by The Canadian Spool Cotton Company. The original material used for the 1942 design was cotton crochet thread but you can use just about any gauge yarn you choose. We used Rowan’s Pure Wool worsted weight, one of our newest yarns, for the sample you can see in the shop. Skills you will use:
- Lace knitting in the round
- “No hole” center cast-on
- Chart Reading
If you don’t know how, or think you can’t, why not resolve to learn something new and step out of your comfort zone? There will be plenty of help on-hand to guide you. Materials you will need:
- Double pointed needles (DPNs) and circular needles appropriate to the yarn you select
- Stitch markers
- Row counter (or paper and pencil if you’re kickin’ it old-school)
- Tapestry needle
As always, participation is free when you purchase your yarn at Yarn & Thread Expressions. We think this will be another popular one so register early to save your spot! Register Now
